Oct 29, 2013. Indian sports scene is buzzing golf this festive season. Recently concluded BILT Open has set the tune for forthcoming celebrations with Indian Golf Awards on November 7, which will trigger the alarm for India’s most awaited golfing fete, Indian Open the following Thursday.

 

Last week’s BILT Open in Noida brought all the local golfing stars from across the country at one platform. However, Rashid Khan with his sheer determination and focus made sure that this BILT Trophy didn’t spill out of his purse and finally made it through. Young Angad Cheema was out and out to give his best shot but fell short by one to remain runners up. Much-seasoned SSP Chowrasia kept Rashid on the tenterhooks until the final rounds but could only wound up the race tied third.

 

The next in line is India’s first mega golf show to reward the best in the sport, set for early November. The very next day attention will move to Delhi Golf Club, hosting 50th edition of $1,250, 000 Hero Indian Open. The stellar field of this longest running tournament on the Asian tour will include, PGA Tour winner Michael Thompson, Robert Rock and the Asian Tour stars.

 

As Hero Indian Open returns to its birth place at the venerable Delhi Golf Club from November 7 to 10, 2013, country’s leading golfers, Arjun Atwal, the first Indian to win on the US PGA Tour and Jyoti Randhawa, one of two players to win the Indian Open three times will vie for honours .

 

Previous winners , C Muniyappa (2009), Vijay Kumar (2002), Feroz Ali (1998) and Ali Sher (1991 and 1993) will also add to the charm of the historic staging.
