Come November 5, for the first time in India, the golfing fraternity of the country will gather at one platform to celebrate the first ever India golf awards. India’s golfing professionals as well as golfing business community will be recognized for their contribution towards the golf sport during the ceremony. It will also signify India’s arrival as one of the world’s leading golf destinations.

The game of golf in India has seen exponential growth in past one decade. The country has seen increase in number of golfers, which in turn has pushed the demand for golf facilities. India needs as many as 100 more courses in near future, apart from existing 200 courses, to satisfy current levels of requirements.

The Take Solutions India Golf Awards will be held in Gurgaon on November 5, a day before the Indian Open. The credit of making India Golf Awards a reality should go to the country is leading business journalists, Shaili Chopra. She set up golfingindian.com, India’s first website dedicated to golf news, which in collaboration of sponsors is hosting the golf awards.

“We strongly feel there is a need to recognize golfing excellence beyond tournaments and championships. The country’s first golf award ceremony will set new global standards. The very best in the game will get the recognition they deserve as, for the first time, golfing corporate honchos, celebrities, bureaucrats and national leaders will be rewarded for their game on the same stage as golf’s professional maestros from India and the world in a bespoke and stylized ceremony,” Shaili believes.

The fledgling show has secured some major sponsors, which suggests they can see the potential of the game in the country.

Take Solutions, a bell weather technology company is the title sponsor, while airline Lufthansa, The Oberoi (Gurgaon) and real estate firm Nitesh Estates are other sponsors and support in terms of prizes.

Take Solutions’ vice chairman, HR Srinivasan, said: “The India Golf Awards will set new benchmarks and create pathways to bring about positive change to promote golf in a rapidly changing business, leisure and recreational environment.”

“Our partnership with this premier platform is a natural extension of our outreach to the new global Indian looking for a distinguished travel experience,” Sangeeta Sharma, marketing head of Lufthansa added.
