Aditi Ashok returns to action at the Canberra Classic

07 February, 2018: Aditi Ashok is back on the course this week after a few weeks of preparation and rest in Bengaluru. The 19 year old Indian star will play the Canberra Classic, a Ladies European Tour event. Aditi Ashok returns to action in Australia for her first event since a T5 finish at the Dubai Ladies Classic.

The young golfer caught up with the Ladies European Tour in this interview.

How does it feel to be back in Australia?

It feels good. I’ve always started my year in Australia and the first time I played in a professional event as a professional it was in Australia, so it’s good to be back.

What are your initial impressions of the Royal Canberra golf course?

It’s a different golf course. I’ve only played in Adelaide, where the Australian Open happens, and at 13th Beach. This course is very different to both of those and I’m enjoying it so far and the weather has been good.

How have you been preparing for this tournament?

I’ve been home for more than a month and I’ve just got new irons, so I’ve been working a lot with those and practising all parts of my game.

How do you feel about your game?

I feel good and I’ve put in a lot of work this off-season, compared to the last couple of years. I’ve worked a lot on my physical side and I’ve practised a lot, so I’m excited to start playing in events and to see how it goes.

Do you think this course suits your game?

It kind of does. It’s not narrow, but I would say it’s a bit tight and the rough is kind of high, so it rewards accuracy. That helps in my game. The greens are a bit tricky and fast on a few holes, so that’s what I need to watch out for.

Are these conditions going to suit you?

If the weather stays like this, then hopefully, but everyone has a chance to win every week and I don’t want to get ahead of myself.
