You have been getting very close over the past four legs of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour, before nailing victory at the Prestige Golfshire. Can you share your thoughts on the week in Bengaluru and the victory at the end of it?

Before heading to Bangalore I was very confident about my game as I was really close in the previous event. I had prepared well as half of our season was over and it was really important to pull off a win n keep the momentum going. It was my first time at the Prestige Golfshire and I was hitting the ball really well, it was just a matter of holing more putts. I was really pumped up n determined to win.

The women’s tour seems spoilt for riches at this time. There are several young golfers who are doing well at this time and competition has been very close this season. How long do you think before our women start knocking the doors in international events?

Yes its picking up no doubt. The scores have improved a lot and there are lot of players in mix who can pull off a win any time. Maybe in an year or two we should be able to make it big.

As a rookie on the tour, how satisfying is it to enjoy a string of consistent results? What is the secret of your steady performances?

It is really important to start well and I was really excited to join the pro rankings n play with such good players like Vani, Simi and Sharmila who were doing well. Therefore that excitement keeps me going though I had put in lot of hard work before coming. It feels satisfying to bring out consistent results in my rookie year.

Can you discuss a little bit about your development as a golfer? And elaborate on the role of your coach and parents.

Before I got seriously hooked to this game I had played a lot of sports so it helped in a way. Playing on the IGU junior n amateur circuit also helped a lot and getting some over seas experience. My parents supported me throughout whether its travelling or managing finances. My mom travelled with me for all my tournaments to give me moral support nd took care of everything off the course. My coach Jessi Grewal helped me technically with my swing and equipment. And also guiding me plan my schedule.

Golf is a demanding game, both physically and mentally. What is your routine to prepare your body and mind for the rigours of the game?

I train with my fitness trainer Sagar Diwan thrice a week. I’ve really improved a lot this year. He plans the week for me. Regular workouts and break is important. Irina Brar is my psychologist who helps me get strong mentally. bringing out the best in me. I do meditation too.

Outside of golf, what are your interests? What do you do to unwind and relax when you have the time.

I love reading and engage myself in sketching n drawing also sometimes. I just love spending time at home in my room.

Golfing Indian will follow Amandeep around the tour, bringing you all the latest action on the game and the progress of Amandeep.
