Bhaseen Sports bring world class shoes through ECCO

In this exclusive conversation with Zubin Bhaseen, Golfing Indian learns of the plans of Bhaseen Sports to bring world class golf shoes to India.

June 12, 2017: Zubin Bhaseen is at the helm of Bhaseen Sports, one of India’s leading retailers of golf products and accessories. Bhaseen, already partners with brands such as Mizano, Wilson and Dunlop are now partnering with ECCO to bring world class golf foot wear to India.

Golfing Indian caught up with Zubin Bhasin in this exclusive conversation on the state of golf in India and the vision of Bhaseen Sports to remain an integral part of India’s golf journey.

GI: What are your plans for Ecco India?  

ZB: ECCO is family-owned, founded in Denmark in 1963, and employs more than 20,000 people worldwide. Globally Ecco sells around 9,50,000 Pairs of Golf Shoes. ECCO’s products are sold in 88 countries from over 2,000 ECCO shops and more than 14,000 sales points. We have a niche market in India with avid golfers looking for a quality pair of shoes. We believe that we make the “Worlds most comfortable Golf Shoes.”

GI: Why do you think the time is ripe for the brand to be brought in? 

ZB: Golf Industry in India is now at a stage where high quality and high end brands are entering the market. Brands like Honma, XXIO and now Ecco are examples of this trend. Golfers in India are not less than any other golfer around the globe, and they desire the best brands to be made available in the country. I was asked by many golfers to bring a shoe which is comfortable and smart and Ecco clicked.

GI: How do you see the growth of golf market  the country? 

ZB: Golf Industry is growing, its slow but yes its growing, you can see the various international events being held in our country like Indian Open for Men and Women. We also have world class golf courses like Classic Golf Resort, DLF Golf and Country Club among others. We have a dedicated awards platform for the golfers recognising the sport and the players – India Golf Awards.

GI: This is a discretionary product, what are your early expectations from it?  

ZB: We want to carve a niche market and segment – the shoes and accessories will be made available at certain Golf courses and Pro Shops. We shall expand to the next level and expand the retail reach in the next phase.

GI: Personally for you, what’s the intent behind expanding with new brands?  

ZB: I want Indian golfers to have the best of the world. When we are doing so well in every field and getting the best products from the globe, why should’nt we have the best golf brands?
