September 12, 2014: Gaganjeet Bhullar and Jeev Milkha Singh enjoyed a good day on the course at the KLM Open, but Shiv Kapur failed to recover from a terrible first round to fall through the sieve. Milkha Singh hasn’t made a cut in four events since the Scottish Open in July, but a timely 68 in the second round helped the man from Chandigarh reach his first weekend in nearly two months. Bhullar made a 69 on Friday to reach the weekend in a tie for 42nd at one under 139. Pablo Larrazabal earned a two shot lead after shooting a brilliant 62 in the second round at the Kennemer Golf & Country Club in Zandvoort. (Latest in Golf)

Bhullar had a colourful start – a sequence of bogey-birdie-bogey-birdie from the 11th hole set the tone for his day. A birdie at the 17th moved him to one under as he made the turn in 33 shots. Eventually Bhullar went around the course in 69 to join a group of dozen golfers with a score of 139. Milkha Singh started his day with a double bogey six at the par-4 first hole. But he recovered quickly to post birdies at the fifth and seventh holes to get even for the round.

Singh made three more birdies in a 32 on the inward nine to essentially undo the damage from the first round 72 to reach the weekend in an even par 140. Singh’s group of 21 men were the last golfers to reach the weekend, with everyone over par missing the cut.

Larrazabal had a rocking start to his round – making six straight birdies from the 10th hole, where he started his second round. The more birdies on his way to the clubhouse meant that the Spaniard signed off with a 62 to jump twelve spots and snatch a two shot lead from the chasing pack. That bunch included Romain Wattel and Edoardo Molinari, both of whom started on the 10th, just as Larrazabal. The two men were 8-under 132 through two rounds.
