Recovering from his breakup saga, Rory McIlroy fought back hard to remain in contention after two rounds with five under. Rory’s 71 after his opening card of 68 put him in a strong position at BMW PGA Championship. He lies at fifth spot as he enters the weekend play of the tournament, where he has missed cut on last two occasions.

“I stood here yesterday saying that I would be happy to make the cut and I’m in for the weekend, which is nice. Hopefully I can make a run at it. I feel like I’m playing well enough to shoot something in the mid 60s and get myself in the mix going into Sunday,”the 25-year-old Irish golfer told in European Tour reports.
