Dec 8, 2014. He said winning the Hero World Challenge would be the perfect way to close the year and he did. The in-form Jordan Spieth was a winner from the very start as he sealed his substantial lead at the Hero World Challenge into another win to top off what has been a spectacular year for this golfer.

The 21-year-old Spieth, who closed with an eight-under 63 to win last week’s Australian Open by six shots for his first win of the year, collected a $1 million prize. He won the tournament with a tournament record 26 under 262, a 10 shot victory, which was also a tournament record, and he’s the first player to ever win this event in wire to wire fashion.

“Yeah, didn’t really know what the game plan was really going to be when I woke up this morning. I’ve never been in this position to be really far out front starting the day. You know, you just got to be as positive as you got to really just think of it as I’m playing my best golf and it’s beating the best players in the world right now. You got to take that confidence into the round,” Spieth said after his win.

He played the like tournament host Tiger Woods would when the former world No. 1 was leading the golf circuit. Spieth dominated an elite field of 18 players with rounds of 66-67-63-66 to finish at a tournament record 26-under-par 262. For Spieth this was a perfect way to round off his playing calendar after winning two tournaments in 2014, playing the Ryder Cup and contending in a Major.

Ask the young man, which ‘list’ would set his heart racing – the World Ranking or his bank account? “World Ranking. Yeah, yeah. Money doesn’t mean a whole lot to me. I don’t do a whole lot with it; I save it. I knew we had to win this week because I’m moving into a new house next week. No, it doesn’t mean much. I’m very conservative with it. The World Ranking is what really gets me going, because there is long way to go with that.”
