Justin Thomas wins shot of the month for March 2018

Apr 03, 2018: The fans have spoken and Justin Thomas’ walk-off eagle at the WGC-Mexico Championship has been named the European Tour Shot of the Month for March.

Trailing by 11 shots headed into the weekend at the year’s first World Golf Championship event, the defending PGA Championship winner went to work. A 62 on Saturday got him into contention and by the time he arrived at the 18th hole on Sunday, he was tied for the lead with a wedge shot left into the par four. Never one to shy away from the moment, Thomas spun his ball back into the hole for eagle and two-shot lead. It was one of the most incredible shots of the season so far.

Ultimately the shot earned him a place in the play-off, where he would lose out to Phil Mickelson. However, European Tour fans on Twitter voted for Thomas’ shot to be named March Shot of the Month.

The American’s walk-off eagle earned nearly half of all votes, beating out competition from Dustin Johnson, Matt Wallace and Matt Kuchar, becoming the first Shot of the Month winner of 2018.
