Dec 26, 2016: Khalin Joshi is a golfer waiting to blossom. He has long been marked out for greater glory, even as he works assiduously to harvest his potential as a golfer. The highlight of his season was a top ten finish in the Panasonic Open recently.

Khalin has been consistently inside the top ten of the Rolex Order of Merit, finishing fourth in the past two seasons of the PGTI Tour. But the young golfer will lament the absence of better results on the Asian Tour – having dropped from 587 at the start of the year to his current level of 740.

Khalin will need to start 2017 with renewed focus, after a poor run of rounds dropped him from contention in the final stage of Q School. Khalin exited the event after the second round with scores of 70 and 74.

Here is a compendium of quick facts about Khalin Joshi, drawn from his recent showing on the PGTI and Asian Tour calendars.

  • Khalin Joshi is a Gujarati by origin, but his family has made Bengaluru their home.
  • Khalin started learning golf at the age of 4 from his Uncle. Khalin trains at the iconic Karnataka Golf Association course in Bengaluru.
  • Khalin Joshi turned professional in 2013, scoring five top ten finishes on the PGTI Tour to underscore his potential.
  • The biggest strength of Khalin’s game is a steady hand around the greens. He has been known to be a rhythm player, a detail that explains his battle with inconsistency in some part.
  • Khalin finished the 2016 season placed fourth on the Rolex Order of Merit rankings from the PGTI Tour. He was 91st on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, certainly well below his true class as a golfer.

  • Khalin Joshi also won once on the PGTI Tour in 2016 – the PGTI Players Championship.
  • Interestingly, Khalin finished inside the top ten in all but one of his elevent starts on the 2016 PGTI season. He was 12th in the PGTI Eagleburg Masters in September.
