Kiradech, who was recently rewarded with a Special Temporary Membership for the remainder of the 2017-18 PGA TOUR, ensured he would remain at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club for the rest of the week by compiling a two-day total of eight-over-par 148.

The 2013 Asian Tour Order of Merit winner trails runaway leader Dustin Johnson of the United States by 12 shots at the year’s second Major.

Korea’s Byeonghun An, who represented Team Asia at the 2018 EurAsia Cup in January, also progressed into the final two rounds despite returning with a 76 but it was the end of the road for India’s Shubhankar Sharma who made his early exit after rounds of 74 and 76.
