July 13, 2017: Rory McIlroy does not feel his next win is far off as he prepares for the fourth event of the Rolex Series at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open.

The World Number Four is the highest ranked player in the field but is joined by three other members of the top ten as an elite group battles for a seven million dollar prize fund at Dundonald Links.

The Northern Irishman endured a disappointing week at Portstewart Golf Club last week, missing the cut at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open where he was the host and star attraction.

He has now gone 14 months without a European Tour victory but the four-time Major Championship winner is confident his game is not far away.

“I’m positive about it, I’m excited about my game. I feel like I’m doing a lot of good things and it’s just putting it all together” – Rory McIlroy

The last time McIlroy played the Scottish Open he went on to claim victory at the Open Championship the following week and, while he feels it will serve as the perfect preparation for Royal Birkdale, his focus is entirely on the matter at hand.

“I think playing links golf is the best way to prepare going into the Open Championship but the last two weeks are huge events in their own right now, part of the Rolex Series and big ranking points, big prize money,” he said. “That’s something I’m focused on as well.

“I feel I’ve got ground to make up this year because of not playing as much as I would have wanted and when I have played, not getting the results that I’ve wanted to.

“So it’s a big week. I want to play well, I want to have a chance to win and I feel like if I get myself in contention, that’s a great confidence boost for me going into Birkdale as well.”
