MGPS inaugurated first golf academy of North East India

May 8, 2016: MGPS Golf Academy was inaugurated as first ever Golf Academy of North East India on 8th May 2016 at the Shillong Golf Course. The Academy has been setup by the recently formed Meghalaya Golf Promoters’ Society (MGPS) in association with Protouch Golf Academy, Kolkata.

The Shillong Club Ltd. has been kind enough to provide the Golf Course to MGPS to start the academy. The main focus and goal of MGPS is to promote and develop the game of Golf in the state of Meghalaya.

The founder members of MGPS have good exposure to the Golfing world in India and Abroad. The academy has a NGAI certified Head coach being assisted by 2 local coaches who have been trained by former National Champion – Mr Indrajit Bhalotia and NGAI “A” certified coach Ms Rukmini Mehta at Protouch Golf Academy ,Kolkata.

After formation MGPS has organised 2 events – the North East Regional Golf Symposium in association with Indian Golf Industry Association (IGIA) and the Shillong Golf Festival in association with Golf Plus.

Gaurav Bajaj, President, MGPS said that they are trying to conduct the Meghalaya Golf Open 2016 ( a PGTI event ) and a number of national events at the Shillong Golf Course in the months to come. The Fees for the Junior Golfers has been subsidised @ Rs 2900/- per month inclusive of Equipments, membership fees etc.
