Bengaluru, 17th July 2014: Amateur Millie Saroha took many by surprise carding the days best score of four under 68 in the second round of the ninth leg of Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2014. The Delhi amateur along with Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi is in joint lead with identical scores of 144 after 36 holes.

 

The INR 5,00,000 tournament is being played at the beautiful Eagleton Golf Resort, on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Trailing the leaders by just a stroke is Delhi amateur Mehar Atwal, who finished the second round carding one under 71.

 

In an event which saw the first under par scores carded today, Millie held on to her nerve and played the best round carding the days’ lowest score of four under 68. Millie’s round consisted of six birdies on the 3rd, 4th, 7th, 16th, 17th and 18th holes, faltering just twice with bogeys on the 6th and 13th holes. Her total score of 144 after the second round put her in joint lead with Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi.

 

Neha had a disturbing front nine with two continuous bogeys on the 8th and 9th holes. She carded another bogey on the 12th hole, but thereafter stabilized her game, carding three birdies on the 14th, 16th and 17th holes to return home with a day’s score of even par 72.

 

Delhi amateur Mehar Atwal is placed third after the second round with a total of 145 after 36 holes. Her round of one under 71 consisted of four birdies on the 4th, 9th, 15th and 18th holes along with three bogeys on the 1st, 11th and 13th holes.

 

Current Hero Order of Merit leader Vani Kapoor made a strong comeback to finish fifth with a total score of 147 after the second round. After yesterday’s mediocre performance, the Delhi golfer controlled her game today and finished the second round carding two under 70. Her round consisted of four birdies on the 1st, 3rd, 10th and 17th holes, faltering with just a couple of bogeys on the 8th and 12th holes.

 

Overnight joint leader Ankita Tiwana could not sustain her momentum and slipped four places to finish the second round at joint 5th position with Kapurthala’s Gursimar Badwal, carding identical scores of 148 after 36 holes. Gursimar who carded one over 73 in the second round, had a flawless front nine, with two birdies on the 1st and 6th holes. Her back nine got her into trouble as she finished with three bogeys on the 10th, 12th and 15th holes. Delhi golfer Ankita Tiwana’s second round score of four over 76 consisted of three birdies on the 6th, 8th and 16th holes, along with five bogeys on the 2nd, 7th, 10th, 13th and 14th holes, and also a double bogey on the 18th hole.

 

Chandigarh’s Saaniya Sharma with an even par second round score is placed seventh with a total of 150 after the second round, while Pune’s Shweta Galande is placed eighth with a total score of 152 after 36 holes. Jaipur’s Pallavi jain and local amateur Anisha Padukone are placed tied ninth with identical totals of 153 after 36 holes.

 

The Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2014 comprises a total of fifteen legs spanning across key locations in India.
