Neha Tripathi fired a 71 in the final round at Tollygunge to win her second title in a row

February 12, 2015: Neha Tripathi made it two in a row with a solid performance at the Tollygunge Club in Kolkata. She shot one over 71 in the final round of the fourth leg on the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour to take a second title in as many weeks. Neha had already won her first title this season, when she won at the RCGC. Amateur Tvesa Malik continued her good run finishing second, three shots behind Neha at 4-over 214.

Young Afshan Fatima suffered a final round let down, posting 79 and slipping into fifth place. But she can take a lot of confidence and energy from her efforts in the first two rounds, when she made 70 & 72.

Veteran Smriti Mehra continued to show the way to her younger counterparts. She shot 71 in the final round, including four birdies on the front nine where she took just 30 shots. Mehra ended the week in third behind Neha and Tvesa at 7-over 217.

Neha and Tvesa were the only golfers this week to break par – when they made 68 and 69 respectively during the second round on Thursday. The former made five bogeys and four birdies in the final round on Friday as she marched to victory with a three shot cushion. Tvesa endured four bogeys and a double at the par-4 14th hole on her way to second place, three shots ahead of Smriti.

Brit Kiran Matharu dealt in even numbers this week – shooting 72-74-76 to finish in sixth overall at 12-over 222. Gursimar Badwal in 7th, Ankita Tiwana and Mehar Atwal in T8 and the troika of Saaniya Sharma, Gauri Monga and Trisha Sunil completed the top ten.
