August 16, 2013 PGA Tour has confirmed that it has not made any bid to acquire European tour.  Tim Finchem, Commissioner, PGA Tour, has denied the authenticity of news published in two British newspapers regarding a bid made by PGA to take over the European Tour.

The Telegraph and The Daily Mail had reported on Tuesday that the PGA Tour made an “audacious” bid to acquire the European Tour.

The speculations followed Finchem’s three years old remark that men’s professional golf might one day have a world tour, though he did not say how that would take shape or when.

Sticking to his vision, he says the International Federation of PGA Tours has worked together to create the World Golf Championships and to help get golf back into the Olympics.

Finchem said the tours continue to explore “collaborative efforts.”

Keith Waters, the chief operating officer of the European Tour, told the BBC that the notion of the U.S. tour acquiring the European Tour is incorrect.
