A week that promised much ended in a whimper as SSP Chowrasia finished the Czech Masters with an uninspiring 76. The Indian was thirteen strokes off the pace at one-under 287 as settled in T39 at the end of the final round. Shiv Kapur slipped outside the top 50, ending the week at an even par 288. Gaganjeet Bhullar was two over for the week, down in 69th. Jamie Donaldson won the title and staked his claim for a spot on the Ryder Cup team after finishing at 14-under 274.

Donaldson only needed to finish inside the top 7 to seal his place in the European Team, captained by Paul McGinley. He sealed it with ease, overturning a two shot deficit on Bradley Dredge after scoring four under 68 in the final round to claim victory, a trophy and a cheque for 166,600 Euros. Dredge finished with an even par 72 to settle for second best at 12-under 276 and a prize money cheque for 111,110 Euros. Merrick Bremner and Soren Kjeldsen finished in a tie for third a further shot behind Dredge to take home 56,300 Euros each.

Chowrasia’s final round hit the wrong notes, very early in the day. At the par-3 third hole, the 360th ranked golfer made a five to surrender two shots to the course at the Albatross Golf Resort, outside Prague. The situation turned worse at the next hole, the par-4 fourth – Chowrasia made a quadruple bogey to slip to six over for the final round and slip below par overall.

The Indian steadied his nerves to sought to settle his rocking boat and he nearly accomplished that as he made five straight pars to make the turn without further damage. A birdie on the tenth encouraged his hopes, but a bogey at the next washed him down again. Eventually, the man who also finished T38 at the Russian Open, made a couple of birdies to close with a four over effort to close the week at one-under to claim 5,500 Euros for his efforts.

The 177th ranked Shiv Kapur made a couple of birdies to climb to two under par, but a double bogey five at the 16th slipped him back to even par which is where he finished his tournament. Bhullar could only finish 69th after making four bogeys and no birdies to score a 76.
