September 16, 2016: The PGTI Tour’s Ahmedabad Masters saw a thrilling finish, with Rashid Khan snatching a one shot victory from defending champion Khalin Joshi. The Delhi golfer erased a three shot deficit at the end of the third round to earn his first victory of the 2016 season.

Rashid shot three birdies on either side of his march around the course in a commanding final round performance that helped him ride past overnight leader Khalin Joshi.

Khalin on the other hand could not get it to fly on the final day, producing just a solitary birdie on the 11th hole. He suffered bogeys at the 6th and 14th holes to slip over par.

Khalin will have left a disappointed man, having been in control for the first three days. Khan finished with an overall score of 12 under 276.

Chikkarangappa (280) shot 67, the best effort of the final round, to tie for third with Anura Rohana. The Lankan made 69 on Friday. Chikka was solid this week except for a second round 76 that cost him what might have been a comfortable victory, having owned a share of the lead after 18 holes.

Om Prakash Chouhan (281) ended his week with a 73, just as Khalin to finish in fifth place. Ajeetesh Sandhu (285) and Shubhankar Sharma ended in a tie for sixth after scoring 72 and 75 respectively on a windy final day.

Trishul Chinnappa (286) and Kapil Kumar were tied in eight position, with the two men scoring 73 and 74 respectively. Vikrant Chopra, 73, rounded off the top ten just one behind Trishul and Kapil.

Shamim Khan (291) and Mithun Perera (293) finished inside the top 20 despite poor opening round performances this week.

Shamim started his tournament with an 80 in the first round, but ended the week with a 69 today. Mithun scored 75 on Tuesday, followed by scores of 73-72-73 to finish in 20th place.

There were just nine scores under par in the final round. The next leg of the PGTI Tour will start on 4th October, when the players assemble at the Classic Golf & Country Club for the PGTI Masters 2016 in Tauru, Mewat.
