CG Open, the penultimate super series event starts tomorrow

Mumbai, December 02, 2014: Avantha Group Company CG and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) today announced the schedule for CG Open 2014, the penultimate Super Series event of 2014. CG Open 2014 will be played at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club, Mumbai, from December 3rd to 6th. The Pro-Am event will be played on December 7th.

 

The stellar field will feature leading Indian professionals such as Rashid Khan (reigning Rolex Rankings champion and current Super Series leader), Chikkarangappa S (defending champion), Shankar Das (current Rolex Rankings leader), Shamim Khan, Mukesh Kumar, Om Prakash Chouhan, Digvijay Singh and Khalin Joshi, to name a few. Besides Chikkarangappa, the other former CG Open champions in the field are Harendra Gupta, Mandeo Singh Pathania and Ashok Kumar.

 

The prominent foreign players in the field are, Sri Lankans Anura Rohana, K Prabagaran and N Thangaraja, Nepal’s Shivaram Shrestha and Bangladesh’s Md Zamal Hossain Mollah.

Seven events will be staged as part of the PGTI Super Series in 2014 with a total prize purse of Rs. 4.3 crore. Points are allocated for each event of the Super Series. The player with the highest points at the end of the seven Super Series events stands to earn a bonus of Rs. 30 lakh.

 

Founded in 1927, the Bombay Presidency Golf Club is one of the most prestigious golf clubs in the country. The course at the BPGC underwent extensive redesign and modifications in 2009. The BPGC has a very demanding course with a large golf-focused member community.
