August 09, 2015: The ankle seems rested and ready for a good swing at the PGA Championships this week. Rory McIlroy has turned up at the Whistling Straits in Wisconsin and is soaking in all the attention around his suspect fitness. After playing a practice round on Saturday, he was back on the course this morning for a full round of 18 holes.

All signs, reading from people watching him on the course, point to the young Northern Irishman being fit and ready for a go this week. It would be a huge surprise if McIlroy can defend the title he won last year, considering that he has been out of competition since he ruptured a ligament in his ankle on July 04.

McIlroy has been sharing several updates over the past week, through his instagram account – with shots of his injured and improving ankle, besides a video of him playing golf in Turkey.

The PGA Championship grouped the returning golfer with the Masters and US Open champion Jordan Spieth along with The Open champion Zach Johnson for an afternoon tee off on Thursday.

Golf Channel showed McIlroy running up steep slopes and driving hard around his practice rounds at the championship course in Kohler, Wisconsin. The images available suggested no discomfort whatsoever for the 27 year old from Northern Ireland.

McIlroy does have an opportunity to walk away from the tournament before he tees off on Thursday, should he find himself unfit for the week. But early signs point to his participation this week.

With the first three majors won by American golfers this season, McIlroy will be among the Internationals this week looking to prevent the first American sweep of the majors since 1982.

He definitely looks good, hoping he plays well. It will be a shocker if gets into contention, being that he hasn’t played competitive golf in more than a month.

Rooting for DJ to finally overcome the disappointments and take the grand prize.
