April 30, 2014: He will be celebrating his 25th birthday next Sunday; North Ireland’s Rory McIlroy has not had as good a season he expected, so far. Former World no. 1 has slipped from top 10 ranking in the world to lie at 11th, however he plans to strike back at the 60th edition of BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth next month.

McIlroy, who began this year on a positive note after announcing his engagement with her tennis star girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki, looked much settled personally and professionally. However, it appears that he has not been able to materialize upon his best state of mind. He finished tied eighth in The Masters last month to slip in his world rankings.

While, It is also true that in his last six appearances this season, he has made four top ten finishes but without a win.

McIlroy, who has dropped outside the world’s top-10, hasn’t played since his tied-eighth finish at the Masters and is seeking his first win since capturing the Australian Open last November. On his visit home last week, McIlroy included playing a round at Royal Co Down also did some physical workouts at the GSK Human Performance Lab in England.

Now, that he has cleared the suspicion over the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA championship at Wentworth from May 22-26, he will try to get back to his winning ways. Nevertheless, McIlroy has not made cut here in the past two years.

In a statement issued by the PGA European Tour, McElroy confirmed, “The BMW PGA Championship is always one of the highlights of the year and it is a title we are all keen to win. I’ve been a little hit and miss at Wentworth in recent years, but I think this year my game is in much better shape going into the tournament, so I’m feeling confident about my chances of performing well there.

“Wentworth always kicks off the golf season in Europe, leading up to the (British) Open Championship, and hopefully a good performance there can launch a successful summer,” he said.
