March 15, 2017: On a windy Wednesday, local lads Saarthak Chhibber and Vinay Kumar Yadav carded one under 71 each to move up the leaderboard of the Delhi NCR Cup 2017 being played here at the prestigious Delhi Golf Club.
Overnight leader Simarjeet Singh carded a two-over 74 for a gross of one-under 143 to lead Saarthak by two strokes as the young gun occupies the sole second place at a gross score of one-over 145.
In third place is Sunit Chowrasia with a gross of two-over 146 while the trio of Kshitij Naved Kaul, Vinay Kumar Yadav and Harimohan Singh a further stroke behind share fourth place at three-over 147. Defending Champion Yashas Chandra and Zubin Nijhawan are tied for seventh place at four-over 148.
Saarthak had a steady round with birdies on the par 5 9th hole and the par 4 16th holes with his lone bogey coming on the par 4 11th hole. Comparatively, Vinay has an up and down round sinking birdies on the 4th, 11th, 16th and 18th holes but also dropping shots on the 7th, 8th and 13th holes.
While its tight at the top of the leaderboard, it primes the Delhi NCR Cup for an exciting ‘moving day’ tomorrow as even the race for the Delhi State Championship is tight with Saarthak, Kshitij and Vinay within one stroke of each other.
