May 18, 2016: Mumbai’s loss is Visakhapatnam’s gain – beyond cricket. The Mumbai Indians have shifted their home base to the coastal city in Andhra Pradesh and while cricket fans are having their fill, golf isn’t too far behind. The East Point Golf Club turned into a beehive, soon as news spread about Sachin Tendulkar’s arrival there to play some golf.

The Mumbai Indians’ mentor was enjoying a day off by indulging in some golf. Tendulkar’s love for golf has been well documented and his visit to the DLF course a few months ago also created similar buzz.
There is no official word, but it is understood from sources at the club that Sachin covered six of the eighteen holes in an even par score.

“It was like a dream come true. We were about 20 members on the course,” informed Vasanth, a member at the club. “We were playing a round when Sachin paid a visit. It took us some time to realise it was indeed Sachin,” gushed an obviously delighted Vasanth

“I appreciate his down-to-earth attitude. He posed with the club members for many shots, not getting irritated at all,” said another member, Bose. “No one knew about Sachin’s visit. My father plays golf. So, when his friends informed him about the visit, he and I left for the golf course wasting no time. Sharing a space with such a big legend will remain a memorable moment of my life,” he added.

The legendary batsman continues to hold sway over his vast collection of fans, despite having retired from active cricket.

Sachin has been busy with a slew of commercial commitments, besides his role around cricket in various capacities with the BCCI, Mumbai Indians and the media.

But in his free time, it seems the maestro is finding solace spending quality time either with his family or playing some golf around the country.
