August 27, 2013. India’s rising golf star – who plays both on the domestic women’s tour and Ladies European Tour – Sharmila Nicollet is back to the game starting with the 9th leg of the Hero Pro tour in Bangalore today. She was on time off to nurse an injury but her resolve to return showed streaks of a good game during the first round of the tournament at Clover Greens.

The long hitter Bangalorean is familiar with the venue, got two eagles. She posted her first one on par five 7th hole and then another one in the backnine on the par four 10th.

The 5 feet 11 inches tall go-getter was recovering from toe injuries during a two-month break. Nicollet underwent treatment and rest. She wasn’t pleased with been in this sort of forced holiday. “It is very frustrating to sit out due to injuries. I have been carrying these niggles for quite a while now and it was about time I took some time off to recuperate. I have been advised rest for some time for my toes to heal. The rest though came after accolades for her game at the Turkish Open where she finished T17.

Nicollet became the youngest Indian golfer to qualify for the European Tour and turned professional in 2009. She was also the second Indian to earn a full card on the Ladies European Tournament in 2012.

There are another five games, of total fourteen, to look forward to at Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2013.
