July 5, 2014: Indian golfers needed a good second round to survive the cut, after a miserable start in the first round. Only Shiv Kapur managed to dip below par and rescue himself, but JeevMilkha Singh and GaganjeetBhullar turned in insipid performances to suffer the cut. Kapur was four under at one stage, before he finished with a pair of bogeys to sign off with a 69 for two under through two rounds. Singh (72) and Bhullar (73) dropped to four over and six over respectively to slip below the cut line. KavinStadler retained a three shot lead with a 68 to go 10-under, with Victor Riu second at 7-under.

Kapur was in good nick, walking the front nine in just 33 aided by three birdies. He made another at the tenth, but four and five at the 16th and 18th holes helped Kapur go two under. The Indian is T24 and good run on Saturday could see him in line for a top twenty finish this weekend.

Singh was a shade better than his effort on Thursday, but two bogeys and a lone birdie at the par-3 16th meant that the Chandigarh man finished the tournament at four over, just where the cut line was. Bhullar, who started on the 10th hole, suffered an immediate setback. A double bogey at the 10th hole and a bogey at the 11th set him back, from where he never really recovered.

On a tough day on the course at Le National Golf, the best effort was a 66 – posted by three men – Michael Hoy, Estanislao Goya andKiradechAphibarnrat. Stadler had taken charge with a 64 on Thursday. The American followed through with a 68 to gain a three stroke lead over Victor Riu and a five stroke advantage over Marcel Siem.
