Pune golfer Shweta Galande showcased her golfing prowess today, finishing at the top of the leader board at Srinagar.

Srinagar, 25th June 2014: Pune golfer Shweta Galande showcased her golfing prowess today, finishing at the top of the leader board after the second round at Srinagar. The seventh leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour is being played at the par 72 Royal Springs Golf Course from the 24th – 26th June 2014. Shweta carded the day’s lowest score of 2 under 70 to finish at the top with a total of 143 after 36 holes. Trailing Shweta by just a stroke is Delhi golfer Ankita Tiwana who is placed second with a total of 144 after the second round. Overnight leader and Delhi amateur Mehar Atwal slipped to the third place with a total score of 146 after 36 holes.

Shweta Galande had a troubled start as she carded a double bogey on the 4th hole, but quickly stabilized herself with a birdie in the very next hole, only to falter again with a 6th hole bogey. Thereafter she never looked back, as she went on to card a string of four birdies on the 8th, 10th, 12th, and 16th holes. She finished the round at the top of the leader board with the day’s lowest score of 2 under 70. Delhi’s Ankita Tiwana, who played a very similar round, is also the only other golfer to card an under par score of 1 under 71 today. Ankita began her campaign with a bogey on the 2nd hole, followed by a double bogey on the 4th hole, but she raised her game at the right time and did not falter again, carding four birdies on the 9th, 11th, 13th and 15th holes to finish at the second place with a total of 144 after 36 holes.

 

Overnight leader, amateur Mehar Atwal from Delhi had an indifferent round today, to finish the second day at 4 over 76. Her front nine were marred with mistakes, which included two double bogeys on the 2nd and 7th holes in addition to two bogeys on the 4th and 9th holes. She had a lone birdie on the 5th hole. She came back strongly to fire a bogey free back nine, with a single birdie on the 15th hole to finish at the third place with a total of 146 at the end of the second day’s play.

 

Hero Order of Merit leader Vani Kapoor played a promising and bogey free front nine today with a lone birdie on the 3rd hole. Her back nine however was not so fruitful for the young Delhi golfer, who carded only one birdie on the 11th hole but had four bogeys on the 10th, 14th, 15th and 16th holes. She finished the day carding 2 over 74 to be placed fourth with a total of 147 after 36 holes.

 

Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi started her day at the second position but slipped to tied 5th with Kapurthala’s Gursimar Badwal at the end of the day’s play. She carded four bogeys on the 1st, 3rd, 12th and 16th holes with no birdies to her name. Both Neha and Gursimar have an identical score of 4 over 148 after round 2. Gursimar however had a mixed bag with four birdies on the 7th, 13th, 14th and 15th holes along with six bogeys on the 1st, 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th and 18th holes.

 

Chandigarh amateur Tavleen Batra is placed seventh after the second round with a total of 151 while veteran golfer Smriti Mehra had a dismal performance finishing her second round at the eighth place trailing Tavleen by two strokes. Jaipur golfer Pallavi Jain is placed ninth with a total of 154 while Kolkata’s Vanadana Agarwal is at the 10th place after the second round.
