Coorg, 18th September 2014: Veteran Smriti Mehra displayed tremendous golf to take the lead on day 2 of the Hero-CGL Women’s Professional Golf Championship amidst tough weather conditions. Such was her dominance that she carded five of the total nine birdies on the day. Overnight leader Vani Kapoor played yet another controlled round to card 1 over 71 but could not match up to Smriti’s fiery form.

Smriti started her day at the second spot, one shot behind Hero Order of Merit leader Vani Kapoor. She could not card a single birdie in round 1, but made up for it by carding five birdies on the 2nd, 7th, 10th, 16th and 17th holes during the day’s play. She also carded three bogies on the 8th, 13th and 18th holes to card the day’s lowest and only under-par score of 2 under 68. She finished with a score of 144 after two rounds of golf.

Youngster Vani Kapoor displayed great maturity and did not take too many chances in the prevailing conditions. She carded just 2 bogies on the 8th and 16th holes during the second round along with her only birdie on the 17th hole to take her score to 146 after 36 holes.

Kapurtahala golfer Gursimar Badwal was placed third after the first round and finished the second day at the same spot. She had an indifferent front nine where she carded three bogies on the 3rd, 4th and 7th holes. However, she carded just one more bogey on the 10th hole to pull things back. After round two, she has a total score of 151.

Kolkata’s Neha Tripathi had a difficult day on the field. She carded five bogies on the 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th holes in her front nine. Her birdie-less round had two more bogies on the 10th and 12th holes. With 7 over 77 in round two, she is placed fourth with a total score of 155.
