The Albatross Golf Resort could be mistaken for an adventure park filled with thrilling roller coaster rides, if you went by the undulating scores of the Indian golfers. SSP Chowrasia and Shiv Kapur enjoyed contrasting fortunes in the third round of the Czech Masters. Chowrasia who slipped down to 51st at the halfway stage, roared right back into the top 20 by jumping 34 spots. Kapur dropped down the leaderboard, losing 34 spots, after making a 75 in the third round. Sandwiched in between the two was Gaganjeet Bhullar who scored another 71 to enter final round at 2-under 214. Bradley Dredge held a two shot lead over Soren Kjeldsen and Jamie Donaldson after a 66 pushed him into the lead at 12-under 204.
Chowrasia who began with a 68 on Thursday to end day one at T3 had slipped down the order when he slumped to a 75 in the second round. He recovered some of that lost ground on Saturday, making yet another 68 to get just outside the top 10 ahead of the final round on Sunday. The Indian who made seven bogeys through the first two rounds produced a spotless effort in the third round. Chowrasia made one birdie on the front nine and three more on his inward march to end the day at 5-under 211.
Kapur had leapt into 29th spot after making a 70 on Friday. But he threw away the good work after making four bogeys in the third round. Shiv slipped to even par going into the final round as he failed to capitalise on a birdie start at the first hole. The 177th ranked golfer is at T63 with a major recovery needed on Sunday to regain lost ground.
Bhullar suffered an up and down round, settling for a 71 despite making four birdies – two on either side – after making bogeys at the 4th and 5th holes and one more at the par-3 16th hole. Bhullar is currently T43 at 2-under 214.
