January 20, 2015: Sudhir Sharma of Meerut fired a five-under-67 to emerge round one leader at the PGTI’s Final Qualifying Stage for the 2015 season being held at Eagleton – The Golf Resort near Bangalore. The Sri Lankan duo of Vijitha Bandara and B G Lalith Kumara were in joint second place with scores of four-under-68.

Sudhir Sharma, a two-time winner on the PGTI Feeder Tour, struck seven birdies against two bogeys in his opening round on Tuesday. The 28-year-old was hitting it to perfection as he landed it within five feet on seven occasions to set up birdies.

Sharma said, “I landed it close through the day. My best birdies came on the 11th and fifth where I landed it within one foot from 75 to 100 yards out. My two bogeys on the ninth and first were a result of finding the rough and the bunker. It’s a good start to the week and I just want to keep the momentum going in the next three rounds.”

Sri Lankans Vijitha Bandara and B G Lalith Kumara were tied for second place at 68. While Bandara made five birdies and a bogey, Lalith Kumara came up with seven birdies and three bogeys on Tuesday.

The top 80 players (+ ties) will make the cut after round two of the Final Qualifying Stage. At the end of round four only the top 37 players (+ ties) will earn full cards for the 2015 PGTI season.
