1.       Anirban Lahiri started playing golf at the age of eight. His father, a physician in the armed forces and a recreational golfer, introduced him to the game.

2.       The seeds for his professional career were sown in Kolkata. Anirban played a junior tournament at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club and felt a deep connection to the game.

3.       Anirban practices Vipasana meditation to give himself the calm and poise needed on the golf course.

4.       The 29 year old married Ipsa Jamwal in May 2014 and the couple had to cut their honeymoon short when Anirban qualified to play in the Open Championship that season.

5.       Anirban was ranked 34th on the Official World Golf Ranking in February 2015. He is currently ranked 83rd but could break back into the top 50 with victory in the CIMB Classic.

6.       Anirban has accumulated 18 professional titles. He has also won eleven times on the PGTI Tour, since turning professional in 2007.

7.       His 24 under total of 264 at the Amby Valley remains the PGTI Tour record for lowest score to date.

8.       He is climbing up the order – Anirban’s seven international titles, leave him just short of Jyoti Randhawa, who has nine titles. Jeev Milkha Singh (13) and Arjun Atwal (10) are also ahead of him. He could take that number to eight with a win this evening.

9.       Anirban’s largest winning cheque was the $500,000 he collected for taking the Maybank Malaysian Open title in 2015.
