Apr 09, 2017: On a beautiful Saturday morning at the Panchkula Golf Club, today we witnessed one of the most sprawling and enthralling junior golf tournaments. A tournament hosted by the Milkha Charitable Trust in association with Ultimate Golf where 110 budding golfers participated.

An initiative by the golfing legend of Chandigarh, Jeev Milkha Singh, to grow the game of golf and inspire budding golfers to showcase their talent on a competitive platform, the Inaugural tournament “The Milkha” Junior Golf Challenge  is only the first step to the long association with the Ultimate Golf Junior Tour to create future Olympians of the country.

The tournament had 19 categories, 10 categories for boys and 9 categories for girls. Amongst the winners two Juniors get a chance to represent the country at the Ciputra World Junior Golf Championship, Jakarta from   6 -9 June, 2017.

The golfing legend, Jeev Milkha Singh as a way of giving back to the game through the Milkha Charitable trust has generously offered to sponsor air-tickets for 4 winners of the season ending Finale“ the Milkha  Junior Golf Championship”  scheduled in Chandigarh in the fourth week of May . The winners of the season ending Finale get an opportunity to represent the nation in the US Kids World & Teen World Championship at Pinehurst, NC, USA.

The tournament observed immense participation and very healthy competition with winners from each category outshining their counterparts. The following were the winners of various categories:

Boys Categories:

Jaibir S. Kang (Boys 6 & below), Harjai Milkha (Boys 7 yrs ), Krish Chawla (Boys 8 years  ), Ajay (Boys 9 Years ) , Gurnavjeet Singh (Boys 10 Years) , Vasu Sehgal ( Boys 11 Years ) , Ayush Pannu ( Boys 12 Years), Akshat Sharma (Boys 13 Years) , Hargobing Singh ( Boys 14 Years ) , Ankush Saroha ( Boys 15-18 years)

Girls Categories:

Mahika Garg (Girls 7 & Below ), Yogyata Modi (Girls  8 years  ), Vabhi Chadha (Girls 9 Years ) , Ceerat Kang  (Girls  10 Years) , Hazel Chauhan ( Girls  11 Years ) , Puneet K Bajwa ( Girls 12 Years),  Gurnaaz Gill  (Girls  13 Years) , Vasundhara Thiara ( Girls  14 Years ) , Lakhmehar Pardesi (Girls 15-18 years) .

According to Jeev, “the junior golfers are the future of the game the future of golf is in bright hands. The Ultimate Junior Tour is a great platform for the nourishment of young talent across India.”

According to Sundeep Verma, Director, Ultimate Golf “the idea of such tournaments and collective association is to grow the game at grassroot level and give young talent the right exposure to take their game to the next level”

The prize distribution was followed by high tea and the President of the Panchkula Golf Club who is also Chief Secretary of Govt of Haryana, Mr. Dhesi was also present to give away the prizes to the winners.
