The PGTI circuit travels to Rajasthan for the Jaipur Open

11 October 2021: The TATA Steel Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) will be staging the Jaipur Open 2021 Presented by Rajasthan Tourism at the Rambagh Golf Club in Jaipur from October 12th – 15th, 2021. The tournament carries a prize purse of Rs. 40 lakhs. The Pro-Am event will be played on October 16th. This will be the 15th event of the 2020-21 TATA Steel PGTI season.

Rajasthan Tourism is the Presenting Partner for the tournament while Rajasthan State Sports Council is the Associate Partner. Hotel Hilton Jaipur is the Hospitality Partner for the event. The host venue is the Rambagh Golf Club.

A total of 126 players are participating in the tournament (123 professionals and three amateurs). The top five finishers will earn Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points. The break-up of OWGR points is as follows: Winner – 5 points, Runner-up – 3 points, Third Place – 2 points, Fourth Place – 1.6 points, Fifth Place – 1.2 points.

The tournament will feature some of the leading Indian professionals such as Olympian Udayan Mane, Chikkarangappa, Viraj Madappa, Rashid Khan, Khalin Joshi, Karandeep Kochhar (PGTI Order of Merit leader) and former champions Aman Raj (2018) and Shamim Khan (2017). Interestingly, Udayan Mane won his first professional event at the Rambagh Golf Club back in 2015 during his rookie season.

The prominent foreign names in the field are those of Sri Lanka’s Mithun Perera and N Thangaraja and Bangladesh’s Md Zamal Hossain Mollah, Badal Hossain and Md Sayum.

The Jaipur-based professionals in the field are Vishal Singh, Hemendra Choudhary, Girraj Singh Khadka, Rudra Pratap Singh Panwar and Nikhil Singh. The field also features Jaipur-based amateur Prakhar Asawa.

Rambagh Golf Club, the premier golfing venue of Rajasthan, is a challenging Par 70 championship course with a yardage of 6303. The course is strategically designed on sandy loam soil and has a picturesque location with beautiful surroundings. Moving around the course, one is afforded with a view of the Rambagh Palace Hotel, Moti Doongri Fort, Nahargarh Fort and the Birla Planetarium.
