Feb 4, 2014. Known as Messiah of World golf, Tiger Woods has arrived in India and seems to be enjoying the Indian welcome. The 14 time major winner Woods met India’s legendry cricketer Sachin Tendulakar and his family on his arrival in the national capital at a five star hotel in national capital of Delhi.

 

Sources tell golfingindian.com Tiger arrived an hour late but was excited to meet with Sachin and his wife over a cup of tea before leaving for sponsor commitments with a real estate giant. Sachin brought Woods up to date with his own golfing experience and how the sport is exciting him as he plans to take it up seriously going forward. Sources say they even discussed the growth of golf in India. Woods was very pleased to be in India as this is his first experience. He is here with the HeroMoto Group on a private visit for which he has reportedly been paid a seven figure fees. Sachin Tendulkar has of late taken up golf after announcing his retirement from cricket. Tendulkar is currently training to improve his swing and continues to practise getting direction in his drives. [Also read: SACHIN TENDULKAR Serious About Golf]

 

He said to golfingindian.com in a recent interview before his retirement, “it’s a lot about the mind and not just about connecting the ball but to be able to do it consistently is key. Plenty of mental training is important. You have got to be mentally tough to drive your game. It’s also important to have a vision to be able to execute your plan. It may not happen in the first go but you have to give it many chances. To be able to play 18 holes is not easy.”

 

Tendulkar is not alone as Mahinder Singh Dhoni too have picked up the game and is often spotted playing at the ITC Classic Golf Resort in Haryana.

 

Golf experts say cricketers have realised this is the only game they can pursue in earnest after retirement and get better and better at it. It also remains aspirational they continue to learn and grow with it.
