"Well, I'm right here," said Woods in jest, before adding that it has been "quite a tedious little process. I got to a point where I can play competitive golf again, and it's pretty exciting."

Tiger Makes His Return for 2014

June 24, 2014. Tiger Woods was serenaded with questions at a press conference today that was streamed and broadcast live to a hungry audience around the world. The golf world is eagerly waiting for the return of its star golfer, who has been out due to injury since March this year.

The Congressional Country Club will host the Quicken Loans National, an event that is played to benefit the Tiger Woods Foundation. And Tiger Woods will be among the men who shall tee off at the $6.5mn event. Woods was inside a packed media centre speaking with the press about his return from injury.

The moderator started the session by asking Woods to speak about where he was on the road to recovery. “Well, I’m right here,” said Woods in jest, before adding that it has been “quite a tedious little process. I got to a point where I can play competitive golf again, and it’s pretty exciting.”

He was also candid, in admitting that he may not have shown up this week, if it wasn’t for his event. Woods was happy that he shall play the Open Championship, the biggest major in golf.

One of the scribes wondered how competitive he might be, “Expectations don’t change,” he said. “That’s the ultimate goal. It’s just that it’s going to be a little bit harder this time. I just haven’t had the amount of prep and reps that I would like, but I’m good enough to play, and I’m going to give it a go.”

The legendary American has missed the Masters and US Open this year, and many wondered if he would be back for the Open. “Well, I’m actually probably ahead of schedule than, well, everyone thought I would be at. We all thought that it was going to be (sic) the British Open would be my first event back. But I healed fast,” said the 14 time major winner.

“When you get treatment all the time, it’s amazing what you can do. And also, nutritionally, making sure I eat perfect. Anti-inflammatory meals, all the different things I needed to do to get back,” informed Woods. “It is normal in other sports. If you play football or hockey or any other sport, this is just common.”

Continuing on the same topic, Woods said, “but I think in the golfing world, looking at most of the physiques, it’s not really that common. But having friends who are in other sports, it does help what they went through and what they have done and what their protocols are for their teams. You know, here we are.”
