– Amit Luthra is a chartered accountant while he is not on a golf course.

Luthra was the leading Indian golfer for a long time, the number one and skipper of the Indian team for the good part of two decades.

– Luthra started playing golf at a very young age. His father was an air force office stationed in Kanpur, and an avid golfer. He introducing Amit to the game during early childhood.

– Amit represented India in the 1982 Asian Games, winning the famously celebrated Gold Medal in Delhi.

– Luthra is an Arjuna Awardee and also won the Golf Championship at Pehelgam.

– Amit suffered a big setback in 1993, when he had to endure a slip disc, which affected his progress as a professional golfer.

–  Luthra has the distinction of playing alongside stars such as Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods at the World Amateur tournament.

– One of India’s top golfers, Ashok Kumar caddied for Luthra, a factor that influenced his development as a golfer of repute in India.

– Luthra is also the founder of “The Golf Foundation”, a Delhi-based organisation that helps underprivileged golfers with equipment, training and funding.

– Several Indian golfers have been beneficiaries of the foundation’s support. Ashok Kumar, Rashid Khan and Shubham Jaglan are some examples.
