The Go Golf BMW- Gulmohar Open 2015-2016 has teed off with stellar participation coming from across quarters. It saw 162 golfers in 41 teams from various clubs across India. The tournament format was “Stable Ford-Double Peoria” and was played between 12th to 20th of December, 2015. The concept of the Interclub competition was a first for its city golfers as competitor teams from rival clubs vied for the big win.
DOUBLE PEORIA
The concept of Double Peoria keeps the Golfers guessing till the end who would go on to Win the tournament. It is a sort of 1-day handicapping system for golf tournaments where most of the golfers do not have real handicap indexes.
The suspense came to an end with the Winner, Runner Up and 2nd Runner Up teams being declared on Sunday, 20th of December during the Prize Announcement event.
Non golfing spouses weren’t just sitting on the sidelines. They were central to the action at the event. A special putting competition was held for the non-golfing spouse of each participant.
THE WINNERS
The competition was fierce with only a single point difference between the 3 top teams. The “Teens” represented by Mohnish Shah, Parina Patel, Abhidyu Adukia & Maharshi Patel were 2nd Runner with 69 points. The Runners Up was the team from Sports Club represented by Ragesh Vasa, Aditya Shah, Monesh Mashruwala & Daksh Patel with 70 points.
Winner of the Western India Inter Club Challenge was team from “Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Course” represented by Devang Shah, Rajeev Vasa, Parthiv Mehta & Pranav Shah with 71 points.
Naman Malik won the Best Gross Score for the entire tournament, while Sandip Ambalia was adjudged as the golfer with the Best Etiquette, Dr Shiv Prakash won the Best Dressed Golfer.
The next tournament is the “Monthly Medal Round” scheduled on 27th of December, 2015, which is going to be the 1st of the 12 Monthly Medal Rounds planned through the year.
