Catalonia is one of the leading regions regarding the gastronomy, their prestigious chefs have an international presence and several restaurants have also been awarded by Michelin. For example the restaurant Sant Pau, belonging to the chef Carme Ruscalleda that has three Michelin stars. And don’t forget chefs such as Ferran Adria, considered one of the best chefs in the world, and Arzak, specialized in Basque cuisine. Also, another three Michelin stars restaurant is Can Roca, owned by the Roca brothers.

Catalonia cuisine is known for its fish and seafood dishes, such as “suquet de peix”, a delicious fish stew. Also, fresh and roast vegetables are very common in the Catalan dishes. An original flatbread called “Coca”, is topped with roasted vegetables and sometimes it also includes bacon, tuna, anchovies or sausages. Catalan wines and sparkling wines are internationally acclaimed: wines from Penedes, and Priorat and the famous sparkling wines of Freixenet and Codorniu are produced not so far from Barcelona.
