October 31, 2013. Delhi golfer Vani Kapoor has made it happen for her second time in a row, as she clinches the 13th leg of Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour with four shots lead over much experienced Sharmila Nicollet of Bangalore.
Kapoor’s stunning display of grit with a score of 214 (68-73-73) in three rounds was finally rewarded. The first round leader Nicollet finished her game as runners up with a score of 218 (67-76-75). Neha Tripathi of Kolkata ended up third with total of 222( 78-75-69),was eight shot behinnd the leader Kapoor.
Delhi youngster entered the 13th leg as favorite after winning 12th leg of Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour.The INR 5,00,000 event was held at the picturesque Jaypee Greens Golf Course in Greater Noida.
Vani Kapoor’s win in the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour 2013 last week, helped her to move up the ranks to the second spot in the Hero Order of Merit 2013. Hero MotoCorp Sponsored Bengaluru golfer Sharmila Nicollet who is the only Indian to have retained her LET card for two consecutive years could not hold on to the lead she secured on day one of the tournament.
Chandigarh Golfer Saaniya Sharma could manage joint fourth place with Rani Sontl.
