June 24, 2016: Vani Kapoor continued her dominant ways, racing to a ten shot victory over Gauri Monga to win the ninth leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour. Victory at Clover Greens marked the fifth victory of the season for India’s top ranked golfer. Vani shot one under 70 in the final round to end the week at six under 207.
Vani fired two birdies on either side of her run around the course, but also conceded shots at the 7th, 8th and 17th holes to account for her score on Friday.
Gauri shot an even 71 to close the week at four over 217. She made two bogeys and two birdies in the third round.
Amandeep Drall took 39 shots to get through the first nine holes. But recovered well to post 33 on the back nine and sign off in third place with an overall score of 219.
Saaniya Sharma was five over through the front nine, taking 41 strokes for the first nine holes. But she needed only 33 on the back nine finishing in fourth place, three strokes behind Amandeep.
Shweta Galande finished in fifth place after she made 73-74-76 in her three rounds.
Ankita Tiwana and Neha Tripathi were tied in sixth place, both women making 77 in the final round.
Gursimar Badwal shot 77 in the first two rounds. She improved by two shots in the final round to finish in 8th place.
Mehar Atwal and Afshan Fatima ended in a tie for ninth after a disappointing 81 and 83 respectively on Friday.
The story though has been Vani’s dominant run. She made a sixth consecutive under par round to stretch her earnings this season to INR 698,200
Neha, the birdie leader this season, is in second place with her winnings adding up to INR 616,433. But she has played all nine legs while Vani has played only six of them.
