Jan 31, 2013. Vani Kapoor picked her first win of 2014 with the victory at the first leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Tour. She had a spectacular return to the top moving ahead of Sharmila Nicollet who had held strongly to the top slot for over rounds. One over par 72 for the final round helped in lowering the score for Kapoor who had started out poor on the first day with an 82, making this win rather sweet. Kapoor had birdies on 12th and 15th holes to make up for two bogies in the front nine on 5th and 7th.
Vani dedicated her first win of the season to her parents, who are celebrating their anniversary today.
Speaking after her win, Vani said to golfingindian.com, ” Starting the year on a winning note has given me lots of confidence and self belief. I hope to continue playing well. It also means alot to me as I gifted this win to my parents for their anniversary.”
Nicollet who has been on a comeback story and promised to make 2014 a superb one played a round of 78 and finished with a three day total of 232, three shots behind Kapoor. She led the tournament on the first two days but was setback today by no birdies, a double bogey on the par-4 tenth hole.
