Jordan Spieth news conference after winning the John Deere Classic Following his victory in the 2015 John Deere Classic, Jordan Spieth talks about his 4th win of the 2014-2015 PGA TOUR season.

After his victory Sunday at the John Deere Classic, Jordan Spieth has now earned more FedExCup points during any PGA TOUR Season under the current FedExCup format (which dates back to 2009).

In early April, he ranked No. 2 on our list of best starts in the history of the FedExCup era, but wins at the U.S. Open and John Deere Classic in his last two starts just may push Spieth to No. 1. The now-five-time PGA TOUR winner claimed titles at the Valspar Championship and Masters Tournament earlier in 2015.

The 21-year old has an astounding 3,628 FedExCup points this PGA TOUR Season, more than double any of his competitors except Jimmy Walker (who’s second with 1,915 points). The previous pre-Playoffs record under the current scoring format was 3,431 for Tiger Woods in the 2009 PGA TOUR Season. Spieth is now 197 points clear of that mark with at least three big-point events (Open Championship, WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, PGA Championship) on the horizon. That record number is destined to grow.

In addition to his four victories, Spieth has three runner-up showings (all in the state of Texas) and a third-place finish at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance. Those eight top-3 finishes are also a pre-Playoffs record during the FedExCup era.
