Inter-school golf to tee off at BPGC

About 80 boys and girls from over30 schools of major cities of western India will tee-off at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club( BPGC) to contend for the Evolution Golf Western India Inter-School Championship

December 24, 2013: About 80 boys and girls from over30 schools of major cities of western India will tee-off at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club( BPGC) to contend for the Evolution Golf Western India Inter-School Championship on the 25th and 26th of December 2013. This is the second year of the season ending event sanctioned by the Indian Golf Union (IGU) held at the BPGC.

 

The two-day event will be played in the stroke play format with boys and girls battling it out in five different age categories – A (under-18), B (under-15), C (under-13), D (under-11) and E (under-9).

 

The kids will also represent their respective schools as a part of the team competition.

 

Top amateurs in the boys section to be seen in action are – Aarush Ahuja, Akash Modi, Aahan Nath, Jai Vora, Aryaan Nath, Tanmay Negi, Tanay Srivastav to mention a few.

 

Among the girls the top names in fray are Parina Patel, Ananya Datar, Kaurvika Kumar, Inika Shettey, Aarya Gadekar who will battle for honors in the competition.

 

The tournament’s aim is to develop junior golf and get schools in Western India actively involved in promoting the game at the junior level. Shivas Nath and Amit Nigam, Tournament Directors and heads of Evolution Golf take a lot of pride in the junior golf development in the region. “We have seen a massive improvement in 2013 in the juniors in Western India in terms to scores, etiquette and performance . A special thank you to all those who have supported the effort and all the stake holders of junior golf development in Western India” say Nath.

 

“We are making a grass root level effort to make golf accessible across the board. We are extremely happy over the response. This will go a long way in making golf popular. Getting schools involved in the game of golf is what will be the next step for children to be exposed to our beautiful game of golf the correct ,” says Amit Nigam.

 

BPGC being the host club for the second consecutive year is soon growing to be the home of junior golf in Western India. Winners receive the much sought after EVOG Rolling trophy and amazing products from Wilson. May the best school win.
