Jan 29, 2014. Bangalore’s Anirban Lahiri, country’s highest rank golfer globally and upcoming golfer Chikkarangappa are in contention for India Golf Awards to be announced next month at Delhi.
The country’s first and only golf award ceremony recognises excellence in the sport. Anirban is likely to top the nominations in the Best Golfer category. Chikkarangappa has four wins in his bag this year and it’s unlikely he will return empty handed from the event.
Vijay Divecha, the coach to Anirban Lahiri and Chikka and even Tarun Sardesai, who trains Sharmila Nicollet are part of the nominations.
Golf has seen a surge in Bangalore city with many youngsters taking to the sport. Actor Deepika Padukone’s sister Anisha Padukone who recently moved to Eagleton to practise and train is another upcoming face of Bangalore’s golf bench.
The TAKE Solutions India Golf Awards 2015 is all set for its second edition which promises to be bigger and better with a spectacular jury and roster of professional golfers to boast of.
