October 18, 2015: Aadil Bedi continues to add to his trophy cabinet with relentless regularity. The 14 year old from Chandigarh recently won an Amateur Golf Championship held by Queensland Indian Golf Federation (QIGF) in Australia.

The 2nd ranked Indian junior finished ahead of amateur golfer Mandeep Dhillon. 60 amateur golfers from India, USA, UK, Malaysia and Singapore participated in the two day event.

It was 8th annual championship organized by QIGF to promote Golf in the region. “We will invite more Indian Golfers next year through Indian Golf Union and Greater Mohali Sports Association” announced Narinder Gill, the President of the Association from Brisbane, Australia.

Aadil won nearest to the pin and longest drive competitions too, driving a handy 280 yards.

Aadil also finished runners up at the Western India Junior Golf championship conducted at the Oxford Golf and Country. He shot scores of 74, 74, 74, 73 in the four rounds held at the Pune club.

Aadil finished 2nd runner up in the Maharashtra Junior Golf Championship at the BPGC golf course Mumbai too. Aadil had scores of 73, 73, 73 & 79 in the B category.

Aadil could be in contention for being the top ranked junior golfer (13-14 year olds), with two more events due to be played. At 314 points, he could add to his total with good performances at the Eastern India and All Indian events through December this season.

“Aadil is one of consistent performers in the junior level at national and International events and his low scoring ability is unique in itself,” said his coach Jesse Grewal.

Meanwhile, the Indian Golf Union is set to be governed by its President for the 2015-16 season. Anirudha Seolekar will lead the IGU for the coming season.

At 14, Aadil is already a towering young golfer at nearly six feet tall. Golf enthusiasts in India believe that this lanky teenager is set to mature into a golfer of promise in the years to come.
