December 01, 2015: Aadil Bedi capped off a good season with a fine victory in Kolkata to celebrate his elevation to being the top ranked junior golfer in the country. The prolific teenager from Chandigarh proved a class above the rest of the field, edging them out in an intense sudden death playoff to clinch the Eastern India Golf Championship.

The class IX student was in imperious form, shooting 70, 68, 74 and 68 to put himself firmly in contention. The victory places Aadil firmly in contention to close out the year at the top of the IGU boys rankings, expected to be released later this month.

“This was my best win and it was a test of my patience under severe pressure. I told myself before the play off that I practice the whole year to face this moment,” said a beaming Aadil from Kolkata.

The teenager played some aggressive golf through the four rounds at the Tollygunge Golf Club, making as many as 12 birdies and 2 eagles on the narrow and fast paced course at one of the oldest centres of golf in India.

Aadil was trailing by 2 strokes as the boys trooped out for the final round. But he made a strong, purposeful move with birdies at 9,10 & 12 before cushioning his card with an Eagle on the 13th hole, to come from behind and force the playoff.

The prolific teenage also finished 2nd runner up in the combined AB Category.
