Aug 19, 2013. The Faridabad boy fancies fast cars but loves to play the consistent sport of golf. At 23, Abhinav Lohan cherishes to make it big in his golfing career. In his first appearance on The Asian tour, in Selangor this June, he showed grit and courage to prove so.

Following his father’s footsteps, Lohan picked up golfing at 10 but it took another eight years to take a plunge into golfing as a career. Alumni of Sri Venkateshwara College Delhi, Lohan started late, compared to his compatriots, but once into it, he has never looked back.

He has seen steady rise in his ranking as an amateur, from third in 2009 to number one in 2010. However, it was the silver medal at Asian game, which aroused his dedication to the sport.

Haryana lad sees his inspiration in India’s ace golfer Jeev Milkha singh. “ Jeev never takes his game for granted, his dedication to the sport is commendable and inspiring,” said Lohan. He looks up to Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson for their sporting talent and humility.

He loves to sit around his play station at home when he is not golfing. However, he says he was better at badminton before turning to golf.

A passionate Saggi, Lohan likes to keep his love life secret, even if he is willingly hooked.

However, for now his target is four tournaments lined up next month in Taiwan, Vietnam, Philippines and Macau. He feels that two months of off-season break has allowed him to re-energize and he hopes to give good shot.

“Winning a Major is an ultimate goal of any golfer but if I get an opportunity to represent my country at Olympics, my dream will be fulfilled,” he says.
