August 26, 2015: Indian hopes at the Asia Pacific Junior Golf Championship remained rooted in the middle after day two at the Sunrise Golf and Country Club in Taiwan. T12 overnight, Shubham Narain and Ridhima Dilawari endured a difficult second day, giving away six spots on the sheet to T18. Meanwhile, Aditi Ashok and Karandeep Kochar, kept their round steady enough to gain one spot and move to T16.

The duo of Aditi and Karandeep, ranked second on the IGU Order of Merit in their respective classes, showed good determination and staying power in the foursome, considered by many as the most difficult format in golf.

The top ranked Indian team of Shubham and Ridhima joined the team from Hong Kong two spots below their compatriots. With the weather continuing to pose problems, Aditi and Karandeep signed on a seven over 79 to add to their even par 72 from the first day in the fourball.

The two are now tied with the team from the host nation, Chinese Taipei. Shubham and Ridhima, both 17 and from Delhi, misfired in the second round. They shot 83 to add to their first round 70.

“The format of alternate shots suits us because our players gel with each other well,” said a hopeful Arun Kumar Singh, who accompanied the team to Taiwan. “Ridhima and Aditi command respect from their co-players. Ridhima was a bit off colour today near the greens, which cost them strokes. Karan is young and needs more experience on a long course and undulating greens like these.”

The Korean team continued to show remarkable strength and form – ending the second day six-under 138 to remain firmly in the lead. The final round on Thursday will be played in the individual stroke play format, with the scores of the two players getting added to the combined scores from the first two days.
