Aditi Ashok - Lalla Aicha Q School 2015

December 21, 2015: Aditi Ashok continued her sensational run in the Lalla Aicha Tour School Final Qualifying event at the Amelkis course in Morocco. The teenager from Bengaluru made 68, her fourth straight round under 70 as she mixed it up with some of the most promising golfers in Europe. Aditi is at 21-under 267, just one stroke behind the leader Karolin Lampert going into the final round on Tuesday. The top 30 golfers at the end of the round on Tuesday will earn a full card to the Ladies European Tour. Aditi has already confirmed her intent to turn professional, should she earn the card.

Aditi was top of the leaderboard briefly before being overtaken by Lampert on Monday. She made five birdies and a lone bogey at the par-4 10th hole.

She spoke to the LET immediately after completing yet another wonderful round of golf. Here is what she had to say…..

Are you pleased?
It was pretty good and consistent. I saved a few good pars and especially on the front nine. The only dropped shot was on 10, where I didn’t hit a good tee shot so I could have kept myself more in play on that hole. I kept myself more in play on that hole, so that was good.

I missed quite a few birdies towards the end, on 16, 17 and 18. On 18 I missed an eagle, so three short putts and I could have probably made one or two of those and had a better score but four under, I’m happy with that.

How did you make your bogey? (she made bogey at the 10th hole)
My drive ended up in the right fairway bunker and then from there I hit in in the bunker short of the green. From there I hit in the bunker over the green, so I was in three bunkers. From that bunker I made up and down. It would have been nice to play bogey free. I gave myself a lot of chances and that’s what I need to keep doing.

What’s your mind set for the final round?
I’ll definitely try and win, that’s what everyone wants to do, so I’ll try and give myself a chance. I’ll try to keep myself in position and keep giving myself birdie opportunities and play consistent. I’ll lay my own game: one shot at a time and see what happens.

How do you combine golf with your high school studies (12th Grade)?
My teachers are very supportive. They always help me when I miss school, they help me to catch up. Mostly I study at the end of the year, during winter, so I make sure I catch up on everything. Our exams are in March, so hopefully I can get ready by March.

What are you studying?
Five subjects. English (Language and Literature), History, Sociology, Political Science and General Science.
