Sept 14, 2014. Anirban Lahiri finished tied 4th at the Yeangder Championship in Taipei with a round he may not have been very proud of. The highest ranked Indian golfer – who finished eight under par 280 – had a bogey infested round right from the very start with five bogeys to set his game back. An otherwise prudent Lahiri was displaying signs of knowing the course very well as he surged from low in the leaderboard to being tied second during the third round, signalling his golf has matured and his understanding of the sport is growing. This game though helped him finish at fourth, Lahiri would know he could have nearly won if he played the holes as well as he knows him.

Giving Lahiri company at the fourth spot was Daniel Chopra who has played well during this tournament. He picked an early eagle during round three and followed that up with some consistent golf. Chopra got birdies on 1st, 4th and tenth during the final round.

Rashid Khan with a four under finished T8 with a clutch of birdies on the back nine helping him out to wrap the tournament with a four under 284. Jyoti Randhawa delivered a patchy championship with some signs of strength but finally closing shop at one over 289. Also tied 31st was Rahil Gangjee who slipped down the leaderboard owing mounting pressure from two double bogeys on third and twelfth.

All in all, not a bad tournament for Indians. Lahiri may have even won this tournament if his shots went well. All Indians in the field wrapped up on the inside of top 35, that’s good show nevertheless.
