May 21, 2014: Eight girls and eight boys have moved into the final round of Asian Games trials after the initial rounds  concluded at Delhi Golf Club recently. Four from each category will make it through finals, which will be held between 1-10th July.

 

Gurbani Singh, Astha Madan, Ridhima Dilawari, Aditi Ashok, Gauri Monga, Seher Atwal, Amandeep Drall and Gaurika Bishnoi are eight girls to move into the final selection process, to be held at Delhi Golf Club and Jaypee Greens Noida in July.

 

In the Boys category, Aman Raj, Pratap Atwal, Udayan Mane,Vikram Rana, Samarth Diwedi, Arjun Sharma, Trishul Chinappa and Manu Gandas will vie for the final four berths for the Asian Games. Firoz Singh Garewal is on a provisional slot.

 

“After the final sections, five boys including a provisional and four girls including one reserve will be headed to the Eisenhower Cup and the Espirite De Santo Cup respectively, so that they get a good practice before the Asian Games,” Jasjit Singh, national coach with Sports Authority of India, who is  running this trial, told golfingindian.com.

 

 

The 17th Asian Games will take place over 16 days in Incheon, Korea, from September 19 to October 4, 2014. It will be the third time Korea will be hosting the event, following Seoul in 1986 and Pusan in 2002. There will be approximately 20,000 participants, comprised of 13,000 athletes and team officials from the 45 NOCs, and 7,000 media. The slogan is “Diversity Shines Here”.
